Since the aequaduct to Los Angeles drained out the waters of the
tributaries of Mono Lake, the water-level droped rapidly and this
Calcit-Tufas, created by old underground wells became visible above
the surface. The salinity of the water rose to the incredible high
level of 95g/litre. Since 1985 there are efforts to reverse this
